Downtown Churches United: Volunteers are needed to help serve lunch to the homeless on Tuesday, February 7^th at Washington Street UMC located at 22 E. Washington Street in Petersburg. Volunteers may meet in the BHUMC parking lot at 10:00 AM on February 7^th  to carpool to Washington Street UMC. See Ann

Children’s Ministry Meeting: The Children’s Ministry will meet immediately after the 11:00 AM worship service on Sunday, February 12^th. We will bring snacks and sandwiches to share!

 

Children’s Choir: All children ages 3 to 10 are invited to participate in Children’s Choir rehearsals on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM in the Sanctuary. See the sign-up sheet notebook or contact the church office at 530-1391 for more information.

 

UMYF: The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (“UMYF”) will not meet at 6:00 PM in the fellowship hall on Sunday, February 5^th and will not meet on Sunday, February 12^th. UMYF resumes meeting at 6:00 PM on Sundays in the fellowship hall on February 19^th.

 

UMYF Retreat: Mark your calendars for February 10-12, 2012 if you haven't already. This is the annual winter retreat at Blackstone. Please visit the website www.jrd-dyc.org and click on forms to download and print your Blackstone medical form, consent, and covenant. This year’s theme is “Will you friend Jesus?”, the keynote speaker is Kim Parker, and the band is Stereoreel. As part of the retreat, the mission

project challenge is collecting new flip flops. Please bring at least one pair of new flip flops with you for us to turn in to this mission. If you have any trouble finding flip flops, a monetary donation of $1.00 will be accepted. As always, we need adult volunteers.  I will open this up to the church as it doesn't have to be just parents. As usual, the adult volunteers will have their fee paid. Bible Study: Wednesday Night Bible study meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM through February 15^th in the Grundy Parlor for the Disciple Short Term Bible Study, Invitation to the New Testament. Wednesday Night Bible Study will not meet on Ash Wednesday, February 22^nd. Adam Hamilton’s Lenten Bible Study, Final Words, will begin at 6:45 PM on Wednesday, February 29^th and will end on Wednesday, April 4^th, meeting for six consecutive weeks. We also need people to sign up for Lenten soup and salad at 6:00 PM on Wednesdays beginning February 29^th. UMW Meeting: The United Methodist Women (“UMW”) will meet on Monday, February 13^th at 7:00 PM in the Grundy Parlor. 

 
 

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner: The United Methodist Men (“UMM”) will sponsor a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 21^st from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The UMM will meet briefly before the pancake supper. This will also be a T-Shirt night! Everyone is invited to show your support of BHUMC by wearing your BHUMC t-shirt. T-shirts will be sold during the pancake supper. Sizes S-XL are $12.00 and size XXL is $14.00. See Charles Woodard for more information. The UMM meet on the 3^rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. All men are invited to attend the meetings.

 
 

Ash Wednesday Service: Everyone is invited to a special Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, February 22^nd at 7:00 PM.  

 

Lay Servant Academy: The second annual Lay Servant Academy will be held at the Blackstone Conference and Retreat Center from Friday, February 24^th through Sunday, February 26^th.
